Whitney Griffin Selected to Serve as Chancellor for a Day on November 2, 2016

2016 Nov 1

Whitney Griffin exemplifies BRONCO PRIDE as a distinguished member of the Bronco Cheerleading Team, better known as "Cheer Phi Smoov". She was chosen as Miss Cheer Phi Smoov, served as Co-Captain twice, and was elected to the 2015-2016 All-CIAA Cheerleading Team. Positions that she has held for the Student Activities Council include Historian, Administrative Assistant, Business Manager, and as a member of the Student Conduct Judicial Board.

Whitney is from Richmond, Virginia. She is a senior majoring in Forensic Science and was the Forensic Science Club Webmaster. She is a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, Bronco Women, a recipient of the "Order of Bronco Award", and is a member of the National Council of Negro Women.

Through membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Whitney has demonstrated her commitment to community service by participating in projects such as creating dresses for girls in Africa, donating back packs and healthy snacks for children in need, providing boxes for women in homeless shelters, and volunteering to help victims from the natural disasters of Hurricane Matthew. As a mentor and liaison with the College Access Programs, she is helping to build the bridge between high school and higher education for students. Whitney also serves her country as a proud member of the U.S. Army National Guard.

Whitney stated that she "would be pleased to witness executive decisions being made in higher education at the Chancellor's level." She feels that her participation as Chancellor for a Day "will help her to improve her decision making skills" as she continues to work with various organizations on campus and as she pursues her career goal to become a Forensic DNA Analyst in a crime laboratory.
